Getting a good page rank is not an easy task but for novice bloggers it is very difficult and requires a lot of hard work done at their side in right direction. Why it is difficult for new comers, because blogging is a science as well as art. You need to properly SEO your blog that’s science, when you write content in interesting style with internal links to relevant topics that is art.

We learn after making mistakes or by consulting others. All we do that to make our blog a perfect one. All this hard work results increase in blogs popularity and traffic. Alexa traffic ranking and Google Page Rank plays vital role and enables us to assess how much we put our efforts in right direction. Excess of everything is a bad thing. Likewise overdoing SEO, marketing will kill your blog.

Alexa updates its traffic ranking daily while Google updates its page ranking on quarterly basis. New years’ first quarter is near to end and Google would update its traffic ranking. We will have our updated PR in 1st April. This date might change with slight difference due to time zone difference.
Presently we have PR of zero and Alexa ranked us at 656,110 on 23-03-2010. This new blog born on 15th February 2010. Though we don’t have a large number of posts, but what so ever we have is our own creation, our own unique content which has been enjoyed by our readers.
Let’s see what would be our PR after end of this quarter. We will review our strategy of SEO and all other Science and Arts tricks based on Google Page Rank. PR will decide our future strategy, whether it needs to be totally changed or some changes in particular areas.

I like the fact that Alexa rank is updated frequently. I wish Google would update the PR more often, at least every month, it really isn’t fair for a site to have to wait for a quarter to get ranked.
Selurus, actually Google want to allow at least three months time period for SEO, link baiting and other stuff for better page rank. And may be in future they reduce this time period. Because developing authority of your site takes time.
I care least for PRs. Might be I’m a fool. All I know is to publish original content and promote among whatever channel. I leave default setting for plugins and themes as long as they do not hinder me somewhere.
It took time but PR is achieved, traffic generated and advertisers started to approach to put links and ads on site. I thought I am improving gradually.
If I knew more SEO I would have achieved the success sooner. But there are certainly lots of risks to have counter effect too. I have met some friends from India who complain that their posts are filtered by google search results. I understand this is due to the over SEOizing.
You need to optimize each aspect of SEO only after you learn it very well.

Suresh, over SEO has -ive impact on ranking and SERP. E.g if you increase keyword density and over SEO it, google would definitely penalise you. Internet is full of such articles stating how they over SEOed their site and received penality from Google.
