Google Caffeine: New Search Engine Indexing System

by Bobby Jay

Few months back, search engine giant Google announced to update their search engine indexing system known as Caffeine. This new indexing system created a lot of buzz. Everyone was thinking about effect of new indexing system on their search engine ranking. Now when Google has officially announced the completion of caffeine on all data servers, it’s time to analyze its effect.

But first we need to understand features of this new indexing system. As per Google claim “Caffeine provides 50 percent fresher results for web searches than our last index, and it’s the largest collection of web content we’ve offered”.  Because in previous technology of indexing, “you’re not searching the live web. Instead you’re searching Google’s index of the web which, like the list in the back of a book.”

Old index system had several layers, which were refreshed according to their frequency but with Caffeine, Google now analyze the web in small portions and update their index on a continuous basis which means we have more frequent and updated search results. Fresh content is searchable within seconds.

Let’s see what would be impact of caffeine on our search engine ranking as next PR update is expected in start of July 2010.

Great to know this, Imran. Then guess I’ve much more to learn concerning Google Caffeine. It’d be really great to see you provide tips on it, only if you know about it :) .

Thanks for letting us in on this. Preciate it very much :) .

Thanks Shirley, for your appreciation. As far as i observe any impact of new database, i will let you know. However, i observed that when i checked my same article after 20-25 minutes, it was indexed and my keywords were also responding.

Hi Imran,
I sometimes feel like I am chasing my tail. I’d Google the term “Caffeine” if I weren’t scared that I would get clobbered. I’m looking forward to continued reporting from you on this issue. I don’t mean to disrespect Google, but I have the distinct feeling that you will provide a clearer explanation of the issues, challenges and dynamics of Caffeine than I will find at Google.

This is very interesting and I wonder how it will adjust pageranks, especially with site page load speed now a factor with rankings and search engine results listings.

We have to work more on retaining current page rank and all other articles that are appearing on 1st page of SERP. I just played a trick with my one of article at in next 20 minutes position increased by 5 positions. it means mu site along with some other are updated within that time period. A faster indexing system.
