SEO Tips to Include Every Post in a Search Engines Index

by Bobby Jay

Without optimizing the posts for search engines, a blogger is wasting his/her energy because people are unable to find the work on a search engine . If articles are not properly optimized for indexation they are penalized by search engines. Indexation of each & every post is crucial. People do searchs on the web to find their required information. Almost 80-90% of people find their relevant information on the first page of SERP. They don’t go to the second page and in such scenarios, if posts are totally unable to get listed on SERP, you need to make a decision out of two available options.

  • Quit blogging
  • Learn at least some Basic SEO

If you are better with the first option then go for it, but remember you left the ground without putting at least the minimum required effort. So it’s better to try the second option and watch the results.

In this article we are addressing two issues which are common and are the main cause of not being listing or even non-indexing on search engines.

  • Post is not optimized properly for SEO,
  • Search Engine penalized you and didn’t index it.

To solve these problems, we need to have a set of plugins that will ease the process of search engine optimization.

All-in-One SEO Plugin

This is awesome plugin which fulfills all your basic requirement of optimizing the post for search engine. Configure it as per your requirement and start using this awesome piece of work. It gives you the word count when you are typing a title or meta description of the post, which enables you to be in that word count limit so that each & everything is shown in SERP. That was the reason I started using All-in-One SEO in thesis 1.7 because thesis was not offering word count feature in that version. Though they have realized and embedded word count feature in thesis 1.8.

Search engine don’t index words after 60 characters in title and 150 in meta description as per best SEO practices. To testify this statement I ran a test which showed me how many characters are acceptable by Google.

I created a post and filled title and meta description with text “Blog Blog2 Blog3 Blog4 Blog5 Blog6…. Blog 30” to know how many characters are shown in SERP. Please keep in mind that a space is also a character.

When I counted the words, the results showed that the maximum characters for title are 60 and for meta description are 150. This is the main point where we have to define each and everything within that limit. This test also confirmed the total word count shown in the Google Search Engine.

Bonus Tips:-

Keep your keyword in the start of title and meta description so that it is not skipped by crawler. By doing this you are increasing the visibility of your blog.

Download AIO SEO Plugin

SEO Keyword Density Checker

Why I felt the need of this plugin? Because,

  • I want to ensure the increased visibility of my keywords,
  • I want to avoid touching the maximum Keyword Density,
  • This plugin also gives you suggestion of tags,
  • This plugin also shows you two-word and three-word long keywords.

When I started learning SEO, I found that my few posts were not indexed in Google. At that time I had no answer to this problem. But later I find that that among other issues, keyword density was also hurting indexation of my posts. Best SEO practices suggest keeping the keyword density below 5%. I suggest you to keep this limit to maximum to 3.5% as per this plugin; because scribe was showing the same density at 5%.

By keeping the density below allowed threshold, you are avoiding the Google penalty and successfully passing the keyword density test. While AIO SEO will ensure to show your keywords and description to the crawler of the search engine.

It’s good to have each and every post indexed in Google from the very start instead of making corrections later to include it in the indexation. It will take more time and energy if you are doing it after Google’s penalty.

I found this article very helpful! Then though, when I cliced to get the tool I saw it’s for a wordpress blog. I just got rid of my blogspot, does that mean I lost my page rank of 1 now? Darn it, I hope not! I don’t remember what all I need to do to get my page rank back up!

Barb, if you want to retain your PR, you need to 301 redirect permanently to your new site till this coming page rank update. By doing so you would retain all page rank and will get coming update as per Googles’ criteria. It’s good time to switch to wordpress blog. read this one and you have answer to all your questions http://bit.ly/asvO34.

I’m using All-in-One – love it! But I haven’t heard of the SEO Keyword Density checker. Thanks for the tip!

That’s True. You will not find even a single instance that recommends using Keyword Density Plugin. Scribe plugin is providing this feature but Scribe is not freeware. Most of the blogs use Scribe plugin.

Yup I’m using the Keyword Statistics plugin. It gives almost accurate keyword densities & helps us to decide which keywords we need to use for that particular post.

Glad to know you are already using it. It helped me a lot. Specially when it shows more prominent keyword, just like Scribe does.

Hi Imran, I’m experimenting with the Ultimate SEO plugin and so far it looks to be a great competitor to the AIO plugin.
I have a question about the Keyword Density plugin – when the tool indicates that you have used the words too many times, does it suggest which instance you should change? For example is it more important to keep the words at the top of the post or should you spread them out.

It would be nice if the tool lets you make changes to the post right from the interface. It looks really cool, so I’m going to check it out this week. Thanks!

Well Ileane, best practice suggests that we should spread our desired primary and secondary keyword through out the article. First paragraph is very important. use your keyword with bold formatting and then spreading it through out the article ensures that search engine has identified your keyword for article, Be sure to be below suggested keyword density to avoid any penalty. As far as suggestion of change from interface is concerned, this tool just suggests to optimized repetition of keyword. It’s good to trim the keyword from end of article in case if you exceeded the safe % of keyword density.
So you need to take care of two things,
Be in recommended % of keyword density,
Emphasize on keyword in start of article with bold and italic setting and spread it through out the article.

I think that with things like the social bookmarking sites, it probably is no longer a case that “a blogger is wasting his energy” if he can’t be found in the search engines.

Generally, blog posts are of-the-moment, so by the time they get indexed in Google, lots of them will be yesterday’s news. The bookmarking sites are more about what’s hot at the moment.

Which isn’t to say that it’s worth doing SEO too, just that I think launching posts on Digg etc. is probably more important in the case of most blogs.

How do you know that the search engines penalize? How do they penalize? When do they penalize?
