With every release of Thesis version, new features were introduced to make the theme more feature rick. Like introduction of teasers & features option, SEO optimization for each individual post etc. This time, with release of 1.7 version, bundle of new options are introduced. In reply to a comment, I said that I like thesis theme due to its functionality and flexibility. Added advantage is the minimal use of plugins. Though i am much late in reviewing the new version of Thesis theme but after testing the Thesis 1.7 version locally on my PC, I updated my blog with new version and now sharing the experience with you.
With use of thesis, All in One SEO and Platinum SEO like plugins are no more needed but in 1.7 version of thesis, insane features of SEO are introduced along with other tons of new feature. Lets discuss them one by one.
Thesis 1.7 version has two new options in Thesis theme control panel.
- Page Options
- Manage Options
Page Options has been specially introduce in thesis 1.7 for SEO boost. Now all your categories and tags have options to add Title Tag, Meta Description and robots function like noindex, nofollow, noarchieve. Furthermore complete list of java script library is also given to enable and optimize that particular page. So you have power to define a javascript feature locally.
Likewise manage options is introduced to save and load the settings of thesis theme. No you are not supposed to use thesis setting import export plugin for transferring thesis setting from one domain to another domain.
Robots Meta Tag:-
A special options box has been added to give full control over site wide robots meta tag. Noindex, nofollow, noarchieve, noodp and noydir are given to properly tune your site for SEO.
Comments Section:-
After these major additions, thesis theme author further enriched the comments section of the theme. Now you have more control over comment box features like avatar size and display order of trackback and comments.
301 Redirect for Affiliates:-
A very interesting feature of 301 redirection has been introduced in Thesis 1.7, which means that you got rid of ugly affiliate links and ads. Simply create a new blank page and add your affiliate link in “301 Redirect for this Page’s URL”. When a visitor clicks that particular page, he would automatically redirected to website using your affiliate link.
Addition of New Hooks:-
Hooks concept was the main feature of Thesis theme that made this theme so popular. With Hooks Technique, you can do anything that you want without modifying and hard coding your theme files. Taking this step to next door, total four new hooks have been added to arsenal of hooks. Two hooks for post box and two hooks for content box. You have more designing control over you blog.

Improved Loading Speed of Theme:-
DO you know, 1.7 version of theme is faster than its predecessor. That is because combining the Header & Footer script box. Now Script in Header & Footer loads simultaneously and saves your time from delay loading.
These are the list of improved and new features in Thesis 1.7. We can expect tons of new functionality and improvement in Thesis 2.0. But for this version we have to wait.[adsense]
Until don’t waste your time and grab your copy of Thesis Theme before the release of 2.0 version. Because 2.0 version would have new price tag as predicted in official site of Thesis theme. With current price you will be more beneficial as the developer license of 2.0 version will more expensive.

There are many jargons in this post that I feel I’m completely stranger of! My goodness. Could you please clarify the Hooks a bit?
I guess the Thesis theme is premium and you need to pay fees to use it monthly, isn’t it?

Yeah man, I love Thesis, but I haven’t yet upgraded to the 1.7 version.
I had huge – dare I say – gigantic problems when upgrading to the previous versions, and I was a bit reluctant with the new one !
Jeez, I didn’t know they had so many upgrades, it’s awesome !

Upgradation to next version creates problem some time. This time problematic area is comment section. Commentluv is not showing its formatting. Trying to fix the problem. This time bundle of SEO settings have been introduced.
I had the same problem with CommentLuv, this problem is not solved yet!
Also I was using the “WP Thread Comment” plugin which doesn’t work at all with Thesis 1.7, but finally I removed the plugin and the problem was solved!

Don’t you worry Hesham. If i found solution to this problem i will write a post on it. We are finding no way to format the commentluv section. i think comment file needs to be modified to allow the comment formatting.
